MEETING IN THE DEPOSIT PROTECTION FUND

A meeting with the representatives of the Deposit Protection Fund was held today which was attended by: Predrag Marković, Director of the Fund and his associate, Snežana Ivanović, and Bratislav Pejaković, Secretary General of the Association and Nebojša Đoković, Advisor.

Mr. Marković informed the representatives of the Association on current activities of the Fund, particularly on the completed stress-testing of five banks (Atlas Banka, Erste Banka, Hipotekarna Banka, NLB and Addiko Banka), which was ran on voluntary basis. He also highlighted that a new Deposit Protection Law is being drafted, which should be passed during 2018. After the draft of the Law is ready, the Association will be consulted thereof and the draft will be sent to the Managing Board of the Association. The meeting covered also the following topics: change in the methodology of the premium calculation and the base for the allocation of the premium paid by the banks to the Fund, harmonisation of regulations from this area with the EU directives. The representatives of the Deposit Protection Fund will support the magazine The Banker sending their author papers, and the cooperation in the field of education is planned. It is also discussed on the potential changes in the Managing Board of the Fund after the expiry of term of office of its members by the end of the following year.
