SAVINGS WEEK – OKTOIH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Today 05.11.2025 – Through the promotion of Savings Day, representatives of UBCG held a lecture today at the Oktoih elementary school in Podgorica, dedicated to the age of the seventh grade. The need for saving, how to save and with what purpose is presented. A review of money, its role in the development of society, economy, as well as the development of universal values ​​of money from barter, via coins, banknotes, to today’s crypto currencies and digitized stable coins, was made. It is indicated that without adequate financial education, individuals are exposed to a greater risk of financial problems, including debts, lack of savings and bad investments, which can negatively affect their standard of living and personal budget management.

The children showed a high level of interest with questions for clarification about the functioning of banks, interest rates, who profits from loans placed by the bank or the client, at what price, where the function of the bank in the development of society was pointed out through the conversation, that they arose out of necessity and what are the advantages of having an address where you can turn to for missing funds from basic household needs to buying an apartment.

According to the OECD definition, “financial education is a process in which users of financial services, investors improve their understanding of financial products, their concept and the risks that these products carry.”
