SAVINGS WEEK – SLOBODAN ŠKEROVIĆ HIGH SCHOOL

Today 04.11.2025 – In accordance with the participation of the Association of Banks of Montenegro in the National Financial Literacy Strategy, where it actively contributes to the National Financial Literacy Strategy led by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Montenegro, UBCG held a lecture today in the library of the Slobodan Škerović High School for their students. On that occasion, the present students were given gifts provided by commercial banks along with a brochure about money in Montenegro, which was printed in the organization of UBCG.
The lecture was interactive, with a presentation of what saving means, what is its purpose, how this global initiative, which has been celebrated every October 31 since 1924, was started. when it was founded in Milan, Italy, by Professor Filippo Ravizza, in order to fight waste, to the questions regarding modern banking. It turned out that one should not spend more than the income, which means planning in advance income, expenses, but also the fight against wastage. Financial literacy is key to long-term stability, and education of citizens, especially young people, is a strategic priority.

The lecture showed that it is not the amount that matters, but the habit, the discipline for saving which. Life questions related to banking business were asked. The students very actively asked basic questions about the interest rate, how it is formed, what does a variable interest rate mean, and what does a fixed interest rate mean, they inquired about monetary policy, instruments, but also the advantages and disadvantages of the euro in relation to the potential domestic currency. Along with the previous inspiring questions, of course there was an interest in clarifying the alternatives of possible investments and what would be the recommendation, stocks, bonds, savings in banks or investment in cryptocurrencies.
