The Association of Banks of Montenegro participated from October 8-10 in a workshop organized by the EBRD and the Frankfurt School of Economics and Management on the We finance code project, which had a regional character. Experiences in financing women in business, what are the obstacles and where there are opportunities are presented. Very important was the information regarding the guarantee schemes that support these projects, which is not present in Montenegro. The estimate that was heard at the workshop is that in Montenegro there is a potential market of about 357 million euros in financing women in business, and the fact that there are over 25,000 registered agricultural farms in Montenegro, where again women participate significantly, is also important.
The economic empowerment of women affects the economic, social, and cultural development of society, affects the reduction of inequality and the prosperity of society. In this context, it was agreed to work on the visibility and promotion of the importance of the “We finance Code” initiative, which improves standards for the economic empowerment of women. They discussed statistical data, the importance of education, financial literacy, obstacles, but also opportunities that lie ahead of us all in helping vulnerable categories of society with the help of the EBRD and the Frankfurt School of Economics and Management, which will provide technical assistance at the system level.
