World Bank Representatives Visited the Association

The meeting with the World Bank representatives, Gianfranco Bertozzi, Cevdet Unal and Denis Mesihović, was held today in the Association of Montenegrin banks. It was discussed on the current situation of the banking system in Montenegro.

Qualitative indicators at the level of the banking system of Montenegro were noted at the meeting, both with regard to the level of deposit base of corporate and retail sectors in the amount of about 2.85 billion euros, and liquidity, which amounted to 923 million euros in nominal terms. Additionally, there is an optimism regarding the results of the expert analysis of the World Bank that will contribute to the stability of the financial system in general. The activities taken the standardisation of regulation that is being harmonised with the EU regulations in the forthcoming period will refer to the amendments to the Banking Law, Deposit Protection Law and also the adoption of new Law on Factoring, as well as accounting standard IFRS 9. Technical cooperation was agreed with the WB representatives, which will be developed in the future with regard to the priorities in the sector.
